Falck wins ambulance tender in Sweden

Falck will continue to provide ambulance services in Sweden’s Region of Östergötland when the current tender period expires at the end of January 2023. The tender was divided into two contract areas and each provider could only be awarded one area. Falck was awarded the largest area of the two.

Falck’s tender met the financial requirements that were tightened in the procurement process to reduce vulnerabilities in the Region. Falck also met the strict requirements for work environment and the capability of ambulance staff. In addition, the new agreement will include a so-called “bariatric ambulance”, which is a larger ambulance adapted for the care of bariatric patients who suffer from severe obesity.

"This is a wonderful achievement. We are proud that we from 2023 will continue to provide ambulance services to the residents in Östergötland. This is a Region where our ambulance care already has one of the fastest response times and highest survival rates in Sweden for cardiac arrests that occur outside of hospitals. This new agreement provides us excellent conditions for delivering better solutions to an already very well-functioning ambulance service”, says Mazella Redling, interim MD Sweden Ambulance.

The contract for ambulance operations with the Region of Östergötland runs for five years with the possibility to extend for another three years.
