Falck, a global leader in emergency medical services, is delighted to announce its participation in the upcoming tender for emergency medical service (EMS) providers in Slovakia.

With a proud history of nearly 15 years in the country, Falck previously operated 107 ambulance stations, covering 40% of Slovakia’s territory. During this time, its paramedics responded to over 500 lifesaving ambulance calls every day, making a significant impact on the healthcare system.

“Although we have not been active within Slovak emergency medical services for the last six years, we have closely monitored its developments and the recent EMS reform. With 15 years of experience in Slovakia and nearly 120 years of global expertise, we are thrilled at the opportunity to return. Our focus has always been on delivering the highest quality emergency care and empowering skilled paramedics to make a real difference. We believe that we will once again have the opportunity to be part of the Slovak system and help Slovak patients and healthcare,"
says Lars Tue Toftild, Head of Falck Eastern Europe.

Falck’s global operations span 11 countries, bringing best practices and extensive experience from ambulance services worldwide to local markets. This ensures top-quality patient transport, emergency care, and skilled paramedics for the citizens of Slovakia.

Empowering Employees Through Education and Collaboration

It is extremely important to Falck that its employees are sufficiently motivated and qualified. Ensuring a positive and supportive working environment is a top priority, enabling employees to thrive and deliver high-quality ambulance services to Slovakian communities.

As part of its re-entry into the pre-hospital sector in Slovakia, Falck will explore opportunities to collaborate with local universities and secondary medical schools. The company remains committed to fostering growth and excellence through education and training tailored to local needs, ensuring the best possible care and quality for patients.

Innovation and Preventing Acute Hospitalisations

Falck is also developing innovations aimed at reducing the number of unnecessary emergency calls and hospitalisation through home healthcare solutions. Drawing on its experience in Denmark and Poland, where home monitoring and treatment have successfully reduced hospital admissions and enabled faster interventions, Falck sees great potential in applying similar solutions in Slovakia as well.

“There is significant potential in expanding care into citizens’ homes. Our experience shows that this approach not only reduces hospitalisations but also creates safe and reassuring care pathways for patients,”
continues Lars Tue Toftild.

Falck aims to develop innovative solutions, such as monitoring systems for elderly and chronically ill patients, to ensure care is provided before health situations become critical. This approach ultimately reduces ambulance trips and alleviates pressure on healthcare systems.

Falck envisions bidding for all types of ambulances across the country in the upcoming tenders.

“We believe that the arrival of a global company will also contribute to improving and streamlining the availability of emergency medical services, as addressed by the new reform,”
concludes Lars Tue Toftild.
