Short Term Air Supply System training took place for the very first time in Trinidad on Tuesday 14th February.
The training was part of the compliance against international standards for the new Trinidad and Tobago Air Guard Helicopter Division Ocelot Squadron.
During the next few weeks all air crew including the Search and Rescue teams will undergo the training as part of their personal development plan which has been coordinated by the supplier of the aircraft Augusta Westland as part of their contract to train competent teams to use and maintain the helicopters.
In 2011 the new recruits were initiated into their roles with HUET including EBS training as part of their mandatory safety induction.
The Trinidad team of Andrew Ragoonath, Kerwyn Wilson, Mark Williams and assistant centre manager Lee Aikenhead delivered the first course successfully on Valentine’s Day under the watchful eye of Kenny Mohammed the Centre manager.
The course was developed by Lee specific to the requirements of Augusta Westland and the Trinidad and Tobago Air Guard and special thanks goes to Graham Gall`s team in the UK for their help in sending their presentations, lesson plans and general notes from which the Trinidad specific course was put together.
This training will now be offered to the other 2 helicopter companies servicing the oil and gas sector on the island and an enquiry from the Trinidad Coast Guard has already been made to our sales team.
