Falck enters Australia

Falck has signed an agreement to acquire the majority of shares in the Australian company HES which provides medical emergency response and related services to the mining and oil & gas industries in remote areas of Australia.
Workers in Australia will be assisted by Falck in the future as Falck has entered into an agreement to acquire 55 percent of the shares in the Australian company Hostile Environment Services Pty Ltd (HES). The acquisition will be completed shortly.
HES has 54 ambulances and emergency response vehicles and 16 mobile medical clinics, which can be brought in by helicopter at remote locations if necessary.  Additionally, HES currently performs patient transportation on a small scale. The company employs 125 people.
The customer base primarily consists of mining and oil & gas companies located in sparsely populated areas in Western Australia, Queensland, and the Northern Territory. Furthermore, HES has activities in Papua New Guinea, north of Australia.
As an outstanding Australian provider of high quality services to the energy sector, HES represents a strong platform for global expansion.
”HES is a leading company within its field and provides customers with first class services. In collaboration with HES’ dedicated and highly qualified management team, we will offer these services to, in particular, the mining industry as well as oil and gas companies in remote areas of the world. Additionally, we will look into the possibility of offering other Falck services in Australia through this partnership,” says Falck CEO Allan Soegaard Larsen.
Falck already serves the Latin American mining industry with similar remote site services through its Chilean company.
The owners of HES, Jonathon Silbert and Paul Bihler, will team up with Falck and become part of the management team of the new Falck company.
”We are extremely excited by the opportunity of partnering with Falck. We have long regarded Falck to be the world leader in ambulance, emergency medical and emergency response services as well as training, which is a growing part of our business,” says Paul Bihler.
Jonathon Silbert continues:
“Falck’s outstanding international reputation for quality and depth of service offering will enhance our already strong market position in Australia, and allow the business to capitalise on opportunities we are currently exploring with our customers.”
