Falck will run ambulance services in Sri Lanka

By acquiring 50 percent of the newly started EMS company Med1 based in the capital of Colombo, Falck is now present in Sri Lanka.
Med1 was founded in 2011. It boasts 26 employees but that number will rise to more than a hundred before 2013. Falck and its new partners expect to have 20 ambulances, medical cars and motorcycles ready to service private subscribers in the capital area by the end of 2012.
”The partnership between Med1 and Falck will not only make it possible for us to implement a first class ambulance and medical service; it will also ensure we have the future resources and capacity required to expand our services in Sri Lanka. Our goal is to implement a reliable, high quality service that is also affordable,” says Donnie Woodyard Jr, Med1 CEO.
Anders Delcomyn Larsen, Falck Executive Vice President, Europe and Asia, is also looking forward to the partnership.
“We are pleased to partner with the founders of Med1 in Sri Lanka and are looking forward to providing high quality Emergency Medical Services in Sri Lanka and other places in the region eventually. We see this partnership in Sri Lanka as a platform for further expansion in Asia,” says Anders Delcomyn Larsen.
The new partnership in Sri Lanka means that Falck is now present in 35 countries on five continents worldwide.
