Falck to operate ambulances in Spain

Falck has acquired an ambulance company based in the Barcelona area. The company will be used as a platform for rolling out ambulance services in Spain.
People in Spain will soon be offered assistance from Falck if they become ill or are involved in an accident. Falck has acquired 75% of two companies owned by Grup VL, a leading private-sector provider of healthcare services in Catalonia in north-eastern Spain.
The two companies have a combined staff of around 200 and operate 70 ambulances for emergency responses as well as patient transportation.
"We have secured a strong platform for Falck to win more contracts for ambulance services in Spain. Our new partner has extensive knowledge of Spanish ambulance services and, like Falck, they take pride in providing the best possible care to patients," said Falck CEO Allan Søgaard Larsen.
Falck makes the acquisition together with Spanish-based Grupo Dominguis, with whom Falck has operated a joint venture in the field of industrial fire services since 2007.
In Spain, Falck staffs provide fire prevention and fire fighting services at nuclear power stations and in a number of other industries.
Falck now provides ambulance services in 14 countries in Europe, the United States and Latin America.
