Annual Report 2011: Falck takes an other step in quest to become a worldwide operator

Falck's revenue for 2011 was up by 21.8% to DKK 10.2 billion, of which revenue generated outside Denmark accounted for DKK 4.7 billion, a 53.9% year-on-year increase, as reported in Falck's annual report for 2011 released today.
Falck took a big step in 2011 towards reaching one of its goals: to become a worldwide organisation that prevents accidents, that rescues and assists people in emergency and that rehabilitates people after illness and injury. In 2011, Falck had operations in 33 countries, eight more than in 2010.
The Emergency business saw significant international expansion in 2011: Falck acquired the leading medical and ambulance company in Latin America which has 750,000 subscribers and operations in six countries.
Falck also acquired a large ambulance company that provides assistance to people in distress in seven states on the US East Coast. This gave Falck a presence on both the east and west coasts of the United States.
The number of ambulances in Poland doubled, and ambulance activities were established in Germany and Spain.
As in 2010, weather conditions had a big impact on the Assistance business, and Falck subscribers made extensive use of Falck's services.

In the Healthcare business, Falck made additional acquisitions in 2011 and won significant new contracts, mainly in Sweden.
In the Training business, Falck provides rescue and safety courses and other safety services. The number of course participants grew to 240,000, up from 219,000 in 2010. A number of worldwide contracts were signed with major customers, and substantial progress was made in emerging markets, especially in Brazil, Nigeria and Thailand.
Consolidated EBITA rose by 16.8% to DKK 980 million, which was due to the acquisitions made and milder winter weather in 2011 as compared with 2010. Profit for the year rose by 12.7% to DKK 516 million from DKK 458 million in 2010.
"Expansion of Falck's activities in 2011 was the highest for a number of years and was mainly generated through our acquisitions in Latin America and North America. Moreover, we exploited our long-standing experience gained mainly in Denmark to export welfare services adapted to local conditions. We will continue to focus on this venture in the years ahead in our quest to become a worldwide organisation," said Allan Søgaard Larsen, President and CEO of Falck.
